Words cannot express how much I loved this story but it's all I got.
Elsie is such a great character! She is still very much a cat while also being devastatingly intelligent. How she phrases herself, board and thoughts. How she used her agility to evade interruption while, oh yes, trying to save their lives.
I'm glad that the crew was much more appreciative. That captain was a [redacted x6] and should be chastised severely, issue a formal apology, and officially acknowledge Elsie's role on the ship. Or can him and let her pick a better captain.
I have no kibble nor fish but I will read this story to my kids, who will appreciate it, and Elsie, very much.
A delightful story! Thanks. I just learned about Toki Pona recently, a conlang with only 137 words to express every concept. If "Litterbox" isn't one of the 137 words, they're doing something wrong.
This is SUCH a Mary Robinette kind of story. :) It's such fun.
When I saw the title in my email I immediately thought of Elsie. Love this story <3
I like this story. Thanks.
Doug
Dr Elsie would probably hate the fact that this story made me go 'Aw' at the last line!
Sorry I don't have Hugo voting rights this year!
Please pay proper obeisance to your Elsie on my behalf.

Thanks! I also recently learned about Toki Pona, hoping to use it as a way to pick new concepts for Elsie's vocabulary.
